Here are a few things about Susan that we learned from the people who nominated here:
“Susan Russella is a single mom who has raised 2 amazing humans. Her commitment to them and their individual needs is absolutely unbelievable. They are thriving but only because of their mother, the strength she instilled in them and the sacrifices she’s made for them. Each bump in their journey through all school years, life choices and now career and college choices has been supported by their mom, with unconditional love and acceptance.
She is a part time employee of DDSD, but many many days she’s there full time. Each morning if you go to Turtle Creek you will see this 64 year old in the sun, rain or cold greeting all the students. They absolutely LOVE her! By greeting the students with that big smile and warm hug, the students are set for a successful day.
Susan continually donates her time to local organizations like St. Judes, My Friend Linkin, ASPCA and much more! She is absolutely the most giving and accepting person I have ever met. Susan has dressed as a bunny for kids at Easter, she has dressed as an elf to help kids make gingerbread houses and a witch to help kids carve pumpkins and all with a smile and without pay.”
From Susan’s loving son:
“A son’s love for his mother knows no bounds, that is why I am nominating my mother, Susan, to receive a safe and reliable vehicle. When I was adopted by my mother Susan at a very young age, little did I know how much my life would take a turn for the better due to her singular decision to give my life a chance. Growing up in a single parent household, it was Susan who I looked up to and learned from the values of love, respect, and kindness. I was taught to always give back when I could, and to never take anything for granted.
Susan has shown everyone around her, including myself, unconditional love always. It would mean the absolute world if this nomination could show that I would stop at nothing to give back to the woman who has taught me the most valuable lesson of them all: to love. Thank you..”
